SOUL works for Yemeni society, focusing on women and children. As a locally-based NGO, SOUL is well placed to respond to the needs of Yemeni society and adopt culturally and socially appropriate development strategies. SOUL takes a people-centered approach to development and places great importance on the need for community-level participation and co-operation in all stages of project design and implementation.
SOUL works by:
Assessing societal needs by means of professional quantitative and qualitative research and analysis;
Developing proposals and implementing projects to address the problems of Yemeni society.
Advocating and promoting the internationally-recognized rights of women and children and raising awareness of issues pertaining to women and children in general;
Co-operating and working in conjunction with other local community-based organizations, international NGOs and the donor community where goals and aims are mutually compatible;
Offering expert consultation, technical assistance and educational/vocational training.
Training focuses on capacity-building for community-based NGOs and work skills to the general public to enhance individual employment opportunities.
