"Khamer Education and Cultural Center
for women" (2001-2006)
(British Council & SOUL)
This education and cultural center for women was established in Khamar,
a very deprived rural district of Yemen. The British Embassy Covered
establishment costs and SOUL, due to its commitment to female education,
undertook full responsibility to ensure the center’s continuance. The
literacy and adult education official curriculum was considered to be
the official curriculum. Besides, SOUL had prepared a supplementary
curriculum ( called Al- Manahel with teachers’ guide book) which
included women issues in villages.
Recently, computer skills and dress making classes were opened in the
center. Moreover, the center was playing a cultural and awareness role
in which many cultural and entertainment activities had been
implementing.
"Improving School Management" Training Project (2005)
(British Council)
This project aimed to improve the structure of the Yemeni educational
system in seven schools in Sana’a, (four female schools and three male
schools). To guarantee the sustainability of the project, a selected
sample from school staffs were trained (school headmaster, their
deputies, and one of the supervisors). The training package was
developed according to the educational, management, and schooling needs.
It included twenty four subjects such as: developing the school mission
and vision, bylaws, and the teacher’s evaluation system.
The training program had four separating training courses. Each training
course had a specific time to be implemented and evaluated. It is worth
mentioning that the participants themselves conducted the last training
course in the targeted schools. |
